BIAA advances research by advocating for federal investment in basic, translational, and epidemiological studies. The Association assists investigators
by serving in advisory capacities and recruiting study participants. Research results are disseminated through The Journal of Head Trauma Rehabilitation
and through Mitch Rosenthal Memorial Research Lecture webinars. BIAA also reports scientific breakthroughs in easy-to-read articles in THE
Challenge! and on our website.
BIAA developed and funded a research project to develop and disseminate treatment guidelines specifying how much rehabilitation adults who sustain moderate to severe brain injuries should receive, in what setting, and at what time. BIAA is collaborating with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and a team of renowned clinician-researchers to complete this important undertaking.
The BIAA Research Council, an ad hoc committee of the Board of Directors, includes the following experts in the field of brain injury research:
Wayne A. Gordon, Ph.D., ABPP/Cn, Council Chairman
